Carleton Place Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment Plants (Sept 2025 – March 2026)

This was one of the most technical and diverse projects Noremac Drillers has ever taken on. We were responsible for drilling and blasting on two sites simultaneously while making sure crucial deliverables for the water and wastewater plants were met. We had over 27,500 cubic metres of rock to blast on this site with many critical infrastructures in place such as a 8-inch high-pressure gas main, overhead and underground utilities, and a 600mm diameter water main that fed drinking water to the entire city of Carleton place. We also had to blast directly beside a heritage building that was built in 1914 (see picture 1), using our experience to make sure we kept the building in pristine condition during our blasting operations.

We used many different blasting methods and had to dig deep in our arsenal to use the knowledge and skills we have developed over the past 40 years to achieve success for this project, all while maintaining impeccable health and safety standards. There was also a high school very close to our blast zone, so we were always on task to make sure everything was under control and secure.

Our drillers performed to our constantly high standards while drilling up to 12 different elevation changes within the same building footprint; and our blasters insured they had the smoothest floor possible while maintaining target elevations with very little deviation.
